Day 65 - Gairlochy to Invergarry

guyscottturner

This was a great day's walking, with good weather and beautiful, varied scenery. We were glad that we had the 3 mile lift back to the Great Glen Way at the start of the day, otherwise it would have been over 20 miles - as it was we did 17.45, with quite a lot of climbing.

Fantastic views across both Loch Lochie and Loch Oich, plus some paths through woodland.

We stopped for lunch at the loch-side where there was a campsite for canoeists - marked by bear carvings.

Various diversions from the normal Great Glen Way, but al on excellent well marked paths.

Got to the Invergarry Hotel - which was expensive but did not really justify the expense - poor wifi, all plug sockets at floor level - not great for kettle or chargers - limited supper menu. Until now expensive but disappointing hotels have all been in England.

Tomorrow there is another Great Glen way closure and diversion - in this case oddly meaning our day will be shorter than planned - only about 10 miles. But the weather promises to be rainy, so that works out OK.

Total mileage to date 1023.31. A fortnight from now will be in John O'Groats.
