...and as pained by Lowry
...and as pained by Lowry

Initially on today's walk both the weather and the scenery were a bit dull, but as the surroundings became more scenic, the sun cam out and the approach to John o'Groats was glorious, especially the views across to the Orkneys.

A combination of a long day, the last of 17 consecutive walking days, the climb found Warth Hill towards the end, the knowledge that this was the final stage of all, and indeed the fact that I STILL have the cough and blocked up nose, meant I found this day particularly tiring. Simon had to keep waiting for me to catch up. The excitement of finally arriving after 79 days, was rather eclipsed by staggering to the finish line!

....in fact it quite the finish line, because we will not go to the signpost itself until tomorrow - always part of the plan. At that point photos and videos will be done to help maximise the sponsorship - just a few more donations will take the total over £20,000. It would be great to think it might make 25.

Stats - not including the last half mile to the signposts: Today 17.4 miles, this trip 29.93 miles, whole journey 1220.56.

And.....never got properly wet on the whole trip - a few bits of drizzle, and three evenings of very heavy rain after I had finished walking for the day. But properly rained on - no.
