Day 69 - Loch Ness Heights to Inverness

guyscottturner

After yesterday's cold weather today was much better, a mix of clouds and sunshine and only windy at the start of the day.

We headed across the hills initially, avoiding Dores and the main road.

Then we made our way down to the edge of the loch, which soon turned from Loch Ness to the River Ness. We followed several miles of excellent path by the river - a path that was not on the OS map or the App.

Both rather tired after yesterday, we were glad it was only 13.5 miles to Inverness.

We arrived in Inverness via quiet river paths and then a park based on islands in the river (where we found coffee and snacks).

Then to my hotel - classic corporate chain hotel, but very comfortable room that for once ticked al the boxes much expounded upon in my early blogs (including biscuits and - the most rare - a desk to work at). Shower, doze, coffee, emails. Before my rest this was the most tired I had felt on the trip so far.

Hugh leaves tonight on the sleeper, and then I have 5 days walking on my own.

Wrestled a bit with the mileage figures as I could see I had miscalculated - Strava decided this was the perfect moment to crash of course!

Anyway, the stats are finally corrected: 13.47 today, 100.92 this week, 1061.1 for the whole trip. Sponsorship creeping up towards the £20,000 mark!
