(Written a day later)

The day before yesterday I was worried about my sore throat developing into something which would stop me in my tracks But yesterday was OK. Today was not. Conscious that I was feeling more under par - but also that I did not have a fever - I set off, and took the day slowly, with lots of rests (including one where I sat on some stinging nettles, which did not help).

This was a varied route, initially following minor roads with cycle-ways and pavements. I went through Alness, along the Cromarty Firth and through Invergordon.

The Firth has lots of visible industry connected to energy and in particular a dry-dock for North Sea Oil.

Beyond Ivergordon the walking became a little trickier - no pavements - and by then I was really flagging. I was making plans for an enforced rest day and then somehow recovering the missing section of the walk.

Once installed in my hotel I lay down and went straight to sleep, for two hours, before supper - which I did not finish - people who know me well will know I MUST have been ill. I did have a temperature by then. I then fell asleep at 8.00, only waking up at 11.45 to get properly into bed and sleep through to 7.00. 13 hours sleep!

Had I been on a normal holiday, or had it been bad weather, I would not have even started today. As it was the absolutely glorious weather certainly helped me.

Stats: Today 14.88 miles, trip 137.4, since Land's End 1119.29
